MISSION STATEMENT FOR PDO

It is our mission to offer a lovingly prepared experience by qualified teachers that will help each child grow spiritually, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and socially. By organizing activities that encourage each child's acceptance of his/her own talents and abilities we wish to foster a positive self-image. We hope to build a foundation of readiness for basic skills through age appropriate learning activities.

Infant/Toddler Class

This class is designed for children 6 months to two years of age

This is a class for very young children based on the importance of a loving, secure environment where the child can have it's first interaction with care givers outside the home. A first experience with peers is also an important part of adjustment for a child this age.

Two Year Olds

Many times this is the age when children have their first opportunity to spend extended time away from home. It is their first chance to make new friends and learn new things. Our classes are small so that personal attention is possible, and individual needs can be met. Learning to be a part of a group, sharing, taking turns and following instructions are all foundation learning skills that begin in this age group.

Three Year Olds

The three year old is an active, willing learner who looks upon everything around him as a curious light. These children are eager to find out the how and why of things. Busy hands and bright minds greet each new learning opportunity. Our classes for threes provide an atmosphere of center based, hands on learning. Through units of study that change monthly, the child can explore, create and begin to find where he belongs, and learn his role in the world.

Pre-School

Our pre-school program provides a rich child centered environment. Curriculum is integrated to address social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of each child. The learning environment is center based giving the children choices and opportunities to make decisions and think independently. Units of study are implemented each month to add excitement to our curriculum. The children have especially enjoyed Dinosaurs, The Solar System, The Human Body, Insects, and many more topics. The program encourages the children to be responsible members of the class by learning to share and care for each other as well as the materials. They are encouraged to express themselves through art and writing. Our goal is for all of our children to go to Kindergarten with a positive self-image, a love for learning, and a respect for school and others.

Each child's individual differences in growth and development are always recognized and accepted. Each ones unique personality and learning style is considered at all times.
